Afghan offender had to leave Austria – returns will continue consistently
After serving his seven-year prison sentence, an Afghan national left Austria on the night of February 2–3, 2026. The 30-year-old was issued an entry and residence ban. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner emphasized: “Convicted offenders must leave Austria.”
During his stay in Austria, the 30-year-old committed several offenses and was convicted of serious sexual and violent crimes, among other charges. He spent nearly seven of his ten years in Austria in prison.
He was banned from entering and staying in Austria. The man chose the option of a supervised voluntary departure after receiving court approval. His arrival in Kabul took place in the early morning hours and was confirmed by the relevant authorities.
Last year, around 3,300 offenders had to leave Austria. This corresponds to nearly ten removed offenders per day.
